Chasing the Orchid is a story of a man, Chris, who had a traumatic accident as a child that caused him to be a little less than a man’s man. His inner conflict with his father caused much emotional trauma. He is a successful business man in rural Mississippi married to Black Southern woman. He is an atheist and she is a southern Baptist. But things are about to change for Chris, when he suddenly finds out that his wife, Tory, is profoundly unhappy with her life and is often the subject of bigotry and racism. They move to LA to find acceptance and fulfill Tory’s dreams, but the traumatic memories of his childhood accident suddenly resurface, setting in motion a chain of events that he is powerless to explain or to halt and he finds that he has traded Tory’s nightmare for one of his own which is much worse.
Their relationship falls apart and Chris heads to the Everglades to confront his nightmare!
This story has many aspects that set it apart including interracial relationship, differing religious beliefs, the south vs. LA nightlife, and the deep swamps of the Everglades.
