“Hope’s Hopes” is a tale of international romance depicting an unconventional and forbidden relationship between a teenager and an older man. It is a story that will cause the audience to ponder as they witness the protagonists in their search for “Hope’s Hopes”.
Eighteen-year-old Hope has grown up in Hungary, stuck with a father who ignores her growing interests. In the summer of 1982, while visiting Los Angeles with her father, George, she has a chance encounter with a much older man named John. Her father’s lack of interest propels Hope into John’s overly interested arms, sparks begin to fly and soon, the two are in a highly unorthodox and controversial relationship. Hope is unusually sophisticated for her age, but she still can’t avoid the pitfalls of her heart. In a shocking move, John proposes to her, but Hope’s father is outraged. George takes an unwilling Hope back to Hungary, but John pursues the love of his life – intending to free her from her father’s control.
Now, John and Hope must defeat all of George’s devious and underhanded tricks to cause trouble and drive a wedge between the lovers. Increasingly desperate to “save” his daughter, George begins to lose perspective—and the support of the rest of the family and his friends. Just when he starts to express an interest in his daughter’s life, his actions force her away from him.
Only time will tell whether George will manage to destroy the relationship and keep the couple apart—or whether Hope and John’s love for each other will triumph in the end.
“Hope’s Hopes” is a tale of romantic fiction with an intercontinental scope, a highly unconventional subject matter, and a gripping plot replete with twists and turns.
Readers fond of romance will surely be in for one wild ride as the narrative takes them to places most conventional love stories seldom dare to tread.

James Hancock has everything—a comfortable marriage, grown children who launched into their chosen careers, and the wealth and jet-setting lifestyle of a successful banker. He’s a geeky slightly naive quant who’s risen to the highest echelons of the cutthroat world of high finance on the strength of his prodigious mathematical abilities. But even with all the outward signs of personal and professional achievement, he feels an emptiness inside, a yearning for something more.
Then he’s sent to London, where he meets Roxy Reid, a girl from the mean streets of the East End, the survivor of a tough childhood with a drug addict mother. Lost waif and formidable warrior, unschooled illiterate and genius savant, artless guttersnipe and sophisticated lady, childlike innocent and wise sage, with trusting immaturity and weary cynicism–Roxy is an impossible bundle of contradictions. She enters his life like a bolt of lightning, showing him in a flash how cold and sterile his life has been. Everything about her is wrong—she’s far too young, totally alien to everything in his experience, and has long standing ties to organized crime. Drawn into her violent world of drugs and gangs, he must decide whether to risk everything to pursue her.

ASSASSIN JULIA HAMPTON IS READY TO QUIT THE GAME AND RETURN TO HER SCHOOLTEACHER ROOTS — ONLY TO LEARN SHE’S MARKED FOR DEATH.
Primary teacher Julia Hampton’s quiet life in Oregon upends with the murder of her parents and sister. Julia seeks revenge against those responsible, and against all odds, she succeeds. Her success is noticed by an organization dedicated to the same task on a grand scale: eliminate anyone importing and selling narcotics. Julia accepts assignments as a contract killer for The Company and makes a name for herself as J.
Settling in rural Idaho to live alone as a substitute teacher offers a low-profile base for assignments. Dawson Pelletier owns a nearby farm and looks after Julia’s place when J is away. All goes well until she’s wounded and barely makes it home. She finds her neighbor is much more than a gentleman farmer when only one of his many hidden resources is to become her expert caregiver.
Her thirst for vengeance sated and faced with her mortality, Julia notifies The Company that the assignment she barely survives is her last, and she’ll return to teaching fulltime, but her resignation is rejected unless she fulfills a final contract. Against previous rules of engagement, her target is outside US borders, and she must leave her familiar firearm behind and find alternate means to terminate a giant ex-athlete responsible for importing tons of drugs stateside each week. J must take on a brute three times her size if she is to have a chance to return to the quiet life and budding romance wants.

BASED ON THE TRUE STORY OF THE VIETNAM VET WAR HERO, KNOWN AS THE “AMERICAN GANGSTER” WHO RAN A COVERT CIA OPERATION AND EMERGED AS VIETNAM’S ‘OSKAR SCHINDLER’
A great historical fictional work on ‘Vietnam’s mobbed-up late 1960s – 1970s Saigon, Pearl of the Orient, Vietnam, “American Gangster – Operation Beaucoup Dinky Dau”
In the best-selling tradition of the world’s master historical fiction storytellers, Mario Puzo’s, “The Godfather”; Tim O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried”; Winston Groom’s Forrest Gump; Victor Hugo’s, “Les Misérables”; Leo Tolstoy’s “War and Peace”; Norman Mailer’s, The Naked and The Dead; Gore Vidal’s Lincoln: A Novel; and Graham Greene’s “The Quiet American”
Steve Murphy, Network TV and Documentary Film Producer, Writer, and Combat Vietnam Veteran, tells the extraordinary story of a never before told, top secret covert CIA operation, known only as “OPERATION BEAUCOUP DINKY DAU”, that served as the unofficial covert Logistics operation to the CIA’s Phoenix Montagnard fighters, fighting the North Vietnamese forces during 1968-1973.
“This I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-fiction” tale has it all: a Marlboro- Man handsome Vietnam War Hero, a parade of impossibly gorgeous women, sex, spies, copious quantities of booze, drugs, and enough violence to take Arnold Schwarzenegger and his Terminator scriptwriters through several more sequels. It’s both a rip-roaring expose and harrowing.
It’s the story of the underbelly of the Saigon metropolis like few others. Corrupt Generals, shady Politicians, gangsters, prostitutes, bootleggers, opium addicts, jazz musicians, deserters, black marketeers, and your run of the mill criminals, murderers, thieves, and con artists….
Casting light on the Federal Government’s links with organized crime and how a highly decorated American MAT Team Advisor Vietnam Veteran, Johnnie Walker, known in Saigon, as “The America Gangster”, became Saigon’s most successful Criminal Mastermind, as well as the most influential “unofficial” Defense Attaché Office (DAO) “Contractor” to the CIA’s Phoenix Program, and the owner of the famous supper club and casino, “Beaucoup Dinky Dau”, and who had unparalleled connections leading all the way up to Vietnam’s Presidential palace and the CIA.
It’s a story most Americans have never heard of and shines a new and disturbing light on the role of the United States in the creation of communist Vietnam, and their treatment of the indigenous tribes that fought for the CIA’s Phoenix Program.
Johnnie Walker dominated Saigon’s War profiteering, Black Market, Money Laundering, and Drug Trafficking for all the major Vietnamese Crime Lords Generals in Saigon, as well as for South Vietnam’s President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu, and Air Marshall /South Vietnam’s VP, Nguyễn Cao Kỳ.
His astounding metamorphosis from criminal mastermind to Vietnam’s ‘Oskar Schindler’ began in 1968 when he discovers that Washington intends to abandon his friends and former MAT Team CIA Phoenix program Montagnards, “The Yards”, fighters that he’d fought side by side with as a MAT Team Advisor in Pleiku. He loved “The Yards” and the War Orphans the Yards took care of, and he was going to make sure he did the “Right Thing” for them.
It was an amazing turnabout for the once money-hungry Walker, because even though he did not begin his journey as a hero, by the time the war was winding down, he became one. He used his cunning to bend the system to help him and his over 600 Yards and 100 Orphans escape Vietnam. He was strong in the face of constant danger and double-cross, and he placed the well-being of The Yards and Orphans above his own well-being.
Based on real historical events, the suspense and intrigue of the story carries larger-than-life qualities and heightened reality. It’s about 90% historical basis and 10% creative license, but it adds up to 100% spellbinding story. It has more political intrigues, more suspense, more intense psychological analysis, and more technological know-how than anything Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum could fantasize about.
And it has something else besides: It’s based on a true story, depicts the courage and shrewdness of an unlikely savior, a man who is a flawed mixture of hedonism and decency and who, in the presence of unutterable evil, transcends the limits of his own humanity, and the pragmatic triumph of good over evil, a triumph in eminently measurable, statistical, unsubtle terms.
Set in his adopted hometown, Saigon, Vietnam, where he spent over six years, American Gangster – Operation Beaucoup Dinky Dau, is the book that Steve Murphy has been building up to for his whole career. From its opening fusillade to its astonishing conclusion, it’s that rarest of literary creations: a book that combines spectacular elegance of craft with a kinetic wallop as fierce as the Monsoons and Tsunamis bringing torrential rains to the Pearl of the Orient.

Asking the simple question, what if; the answer is conveyed in 13 short stories where ONeal pushes the limits of imagination, as in “August 14, 2022”, when a man awakens one morning, knowing when his life will end in the future, and in the story “9 Lives”, when a cats devoted love of a little girl, is willing to sacrifice each of its nine lives to protect her from danger. In “The Shadow”, a malevolent spirit of a six year old girl, long dead, wanting to return to the living world, by taking over the body of another six year old girl, Ten years later!. With the combination of fantasy, the paranormal, ghosts, sci-fi horror, and the unexplained, ONeal’s characteristic dark humor, with a savory taste for the macabre and the unknown, extends the bounds of the predictable, and brings the reader to the brink of sanity and insanity, loneliness and friendship, and into the horrors of human and inhuman existence.
Fans of Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Michael Crichton, and tv shows like “Amazing Tales”, and “The Twilight Zone”, will enjoy this anthology of unique and diverse stories, where some may leave you breathless. What If, celebrates the mysteries of the world and the unexplained that encompasses each of our minds, and articulates how fast time flies. Never forget that time has been the most valuable thing we can spend, ONeal says, so spend it wisely, and don’t throw it away.

Think and Act Out of The Box by Manuel Manero
Success in life is an option. This book is a “manual” of behaviours, attitudes and procedures that you must develop if you want to have a successful life.
All that you are going to “drink” serves a single purpose: to live a more gratifying life with whom you love. And for that to happen, you have to transform yourself into that person, that leader, that idol that everyone admires and will want to follow.
Aware that much more is needed than reading a simple work to live a “great” life, I want with these pages to light the flame of “belief” that each of us has inside, so that the process of transformation occurs Of course, and that all “growing pains” be accepted as part of our “program” for a life of accomplishment.

A college graduate, not to mention future father and husband–in that order–finds out he can make a living, or his living can make him.

My hope for this book is that I give a glimpse to you, the reader, into the experiences we went through when my husband – a young, healthy man – was diagnosed at age 50 with Early Onset Alzheimer’s. My aim is to give you some insight into how to perhaps deal with each change with a little more understanding, and the knowledge that you aren’t alone. On those days where you are frustrated or unsure if you can continue with your journey as a caregiver through this terrible disease, you must remember that nobody is infallible and nobody is a saint. You are human, you make mistakes, and you are doing the very best you can.
When my husband was first diagnosed, I remember telling a friend, “I don’t think I can do this; I don’t know if I can ever do the full care when he gets to that stage.” I was able to continue the care-giving a lot longer than I ever imagined – one day at a time.
I wanted to “give back” in some way to help others who are facing what we faced. My memories are still very vivid right from the first indication that something was wrong. I don’t regret any of the treatments we tried or the care-giving I did. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to cure him.

A young lady is having a wonderful day playing outside when she falls and hurts herself. She has to go to the urgent care for help. She is initially scared, but she soon finds out that she has nothing to fear.
This book is an excellent way to help children with their fear of going to medical clinics. Additionally, early exposure to medical facilities may foster a desire for a career in medicine.

A startling blend of mysticism, myth, nature and adventure.
We all have a dark side, but his . . . destroys worlds.
The Manian’s Spear, is the thrilling first installment in the Korian series of epic, dark fantasy novels. Set on Endura, a world as wondrous as it is mysterious, the saga follows Korian, Doric and Will—three outcasts with unique powers—as they come of age in a mystical world ravaged by a dark insatiable evil. It’s a story, layered in myth, of two species: humans and firstlings—the indigenous humanoid species, and their battle against an unimaginable nightmare.
When an ancient evil is awakened, a legacy is tragically thrust upon Korian, Doric and Will. Cursed with the burden to seek out the Azura: a faceless enigma; a gift from the gods; the guardian; a super-being, and the last hope for the downtrodden species, the unwary boys must reluctantly embark on a tortuous quest. Relentlessly pursued by a dark featureless figure wielding a powerful dark magic, they encounter a number of unique characters and creatures, and a sorcerer with the moniker, Manian, along the way. As they follow three distinct paths toward a great purpose: to find the Azura and the Portal to the realm of the gods, their quest uncovers the true meaning of friendship, the harsh reality of who they are and drives them towards the final confrontation for Endura, where the fates of everyone rest with the resolve of one man, his enchanted spear, and a force that evil did not reckon: the unbound power that comes when the rapture of love is suddenly and irretrievably lost.

Detective David Knight lives in Birchwood, California. It is a small town in The Fiasco Valley of Elviño County, which is world-famous for the wine it produces. The town seems idyllic until young, healthy, male, harvest workers start turning up dead. While trying to solve the crimes, David meets a beautiful Mexican woman and falls in love. Follow David as he does detective work in order to catch the killer, or killers, and solve the rash of murders. Keep following David as he runs from the drug cartels that have started their own country and as he escapes monumentally mad Martians. David’s political views and psychological problems are often put on display and the results are rather amusing. It’s a hilarious and informative look at life in a dull town in a wealthy valley that is beset by murders . . . or is it? Since this book doesn’t really fall into an established genre, the author came up with a new one. VD is a political sarcastic comedy, and so falls into the new “Polisarcasmedy” genre. It could become a huge, popular genre if our politicians don’t improve.

Trouble is, she’s searched for it in all the wrong beds…there was the hazel-eyed bad boy, the millionaire sugar daddy, and the husband who couldn’t stay away from the bottle. Follow her through her trials and triumphs in this cautionary tale about the double life of Carma Carmelite.

When the phone rings long after midnight, it spells trouble of the lethal kind for Dallas private eye Ed Earl Burch in a gritty and relentless hard-boiled thriller that races from the gleaming towers of Houston to the decadent charms of New Orleans and the stark desert mountains of the Texas Big Bend country and northern Mexico.
Burch is a cashiered homicide detective with bad knees, a wounded liver and an empty bank account. He’s been hired to protect an old flame after the disappearance of her husband, a high-flying Houston financier who ripped off his clients, including some deeply unsavory gentlemen from New Orleans.
It’s a simple job that goes wrong fast, plunging Burch into a ruthless contest where nothing and nobody can be trusted. Money and sex tempt him to break his own rules—twin temptations served up by the old flame, a rangy strawberry blonde with a violent temper and a terminal knack for larceny and betrayal.
Those New Orleans gentlemen give the game a more murderous edge by sending two hitmen to reclaim their stolen goods and kill anybody involved in the score.
Burch also faces an old adversary, Houston homicide detective Cider Jones, a mystic with Comanche blood who blames Burch for his partner’s death and wouldn’t mind seeing him wind up dead.
When his best friend gets murdered in Dallas by hired muscle, Burch blames himself and grimly sets out for vengeance that also delivers a bloody form of redemption.
The action is as remorseless and unpredictable as a runaway cement truck, leading to a lonely white chapel in an abandoned mining town on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande.

Made in the Image of God is a book that provides key concepts for understanding the nature and personhood of God and mankind, while providing deeper insights into how we as human beings relate to God physically, emotionally and spiritually in a metaphysical way, both now and in the future.
Within this study, there are discussions on such topics as The Nature of God, The Nature of Mankind, The Trinity, and Jesus Christ as God and Man, while providing concepts that will help open the door to understanding God’s revelation concerning himself, as revealed through the Scriptures. One reader commented: “After fifty years of being a Christian and doing lots of Bible study, this book gave me the clearest understanding of the Trinity and their interaction with me.”

The Wonder of You: What the Near-Death Experience Tells You about Yourself is not about death. After researching 2500 NDEs for Dr. Jeffery Long, from NDERF, it was such a thrill for me to find the deeper hidden messages coming back from the beyond that I had to write about it. The original book got such rave reviews that I was asked by John Hunt Publishing to allow them to publish a second edition. This edition of The Wonder of You certainly does have information on the death experience, but it also goes much deeper to learn of our reality. This book answers the questions that have been asked by humans for eternity. What is life all about? Why am I here? What am I supposed to do? And, what is my reality?

I Conquered, the final book of Gilraën and the Prophecy, is GameLit epic fantasy in which the heroine bravely faces doom in a medieval world filled with Elves and Dwarves, Sorcerers and monsters set amidst a great civil war and wrapped in a romance of forbidden love.

To call these “end times” is hardly hyperbolic. We are in trouble and the signs are everywhere: extreme political divisions; xenophobic violence; enormous wealth inequity; poverty and homelessness; racism, sexism, and ageism; arms buildups and unending wars; and, most critical of all, the terrifying reality of manmade global warming. We are the cause of these dark times. Driven by left-brain beliefs, illusions and obsessions, humanity races headlong toward the collapse of civilization. Fortunately, the solution to these mounting crises also lies in the human psyche, arising from a most surprising source: the right-brain’s natural mystical consciousness. Our survival depends on whether we grasp and resolve this paradox in time.
“John Robinson lights a fire to our hearts, minds and souls and offers deep medicine for our struggling times, times he is unafraid to recognize as an “approaching apocalypse.” John has his feet squarely on the ground and his heart, soul and spirit soaring.”

This is a story that centers around the changing of our society in the post 9/11 era, a change that is real but denied for the most part by the government and the press. It illustrates and brings to life, through a group of fictional characters that you may recognize, an undercurrent of disappointment and at times outright hate of certain segments of our society. The storyline plays out mostly in the heartland of this country around everyday folks like you and I. The plot centers around the FBI trying to solve hate crimes against the Muslim community featuring the lead character, Jonathan Blake. Blake is a man of questionable morals, and he is brought out of retirement to lead a team of former and current FBI and CIA agents in this pursuit. This all plays out in the Pacific Northwest against a backdrop of patriotic White Supremacist groups. It is full of action and intrigue and develops an interesting ending that has you begging for more.

Whether you realize it or not, there’s a story that governs your relationship. Most of us have unconscious patterns, stories, myths, and programs that we believe about ourselves and others, and these beliefs shape our behavior and how we function in our relationships.
You have a dominant power archetype, as does your partner. That archetype determines how you react in times of need, and being overwhelmed, stressed, and afraid. Your power archetype has both balanced and shadow aspects.
Identifying and understanding your archetype will help you see the stories at play in your relationship, along with how you and your partner interact with those stories. It will also help you uncover your shadow aspects and see how they influence your relationships when you feel you are losing power.
Knowing and understanding power archetypes will help you stop struggling to take power from others and realize that you can instead gain power—and have healthier relationships—by making conscious choices.
By absorbing and practicing the lessons in this book you will:
- Be encouraged to take full responsibility for your behavior, thoughts, feelings, actions, and reactions
- Be supported in digging deeper and understanding what is really going on when you compete for power with your partner
- Understand the power dynamics happening between you and your partner and why these competitions for power occur
- Move from unconscious to conscious behavior when you are triggered in your relationship
- Reduce power struggles and conflict in your relationship
- Strengthen a loving bond between you and your partner
- Understand what you need from your partner to feel safe and secure in your relationship
- Find yourself able to communicate your needs effectively and appropriately
- Encourage growth and compassion in your relationship
- Feel supported in opening your heart to your partner, and feeling and connecting with your partner

Three mismatched suburban couples, Steve and Katie, Marty and Erin, and Scarlett and C. Thomas, have been neighbors and friends for years. During a pummeling Connecticut Nor’Easter, the members of the bored triptych engage in a friendly game of Texas Hold’em in front of a fire and over more than a few bottles of Merlot. The impromptu get-together eventually leads to the institution of alcohol-driven, bi-weekly poker nights.
One evening on a lark, someone suggests an alternate payout – instead of pocket change, the winner may choose a player (other than his or her spouse) with whom to spend the night. The proposition takes shape, but complications arise as these things will.
All too quickly, friendships are strained and relationships begin to crumble. Lies are told, truths are exposed, and feelings are hurt. In the end, can anyone bear the weight of this wanton self-indulgence? They are six fully consenting adults, and after all, it’s only a game. Or is it?

James Hancock has everything—a comfortable marriage, grown children who launched into their chosen careers, and the wealth and jet-setting lifestyle of a successful banker. He’s a geeky slightly naive quant who’s risen to the highest echelons of the cutthroat world of high finance on the strength of his prodigious mathematical abilities. The following is an excerpt from the award winning book, The Slave’s Diary.
“She stopped rocking and pulled the pipe from her mouth and held it in her wrinkled hand.
“Well, now, how do you s’pose you’re gonna eat it if ’n yer hidin’ in them there woods?”
Leaving the safety of the brush, I walked slowly up to the porch and told her my name.
“Hmmm. Rastus, is it? I like it. It’s a good strong name. I knew a Rastus once. A good man he was, an’ kind to animals too. Well, what are ya standin’ there like a lump fer? Come on up here and set fer a spell an’ tell me about yerself, Rastus.”
“Thank ya, kindly ma’am, don’t mind if I do.”
“You might jest as well call me Miss Owens. Evrabuddy else does.”
She patted the chair next to her and told me to sit for a while and talk with her.
“So tell me about yerself, young feller.”
I told her my story, and I mean everything. Well, almost everything. I told her about how I was a boy when I came to America from Africa, and then about Jed an’ Miss Kassie, and all about the Masters I had. But I didn’t tell her anything about Lizbeth ’cause it just didn’t seem like a good idea.
She seemed real interested when I talked about the draft horses I used to work with, and laughed when I told her some of the things that happened while I lived with Miss Kassie and Jed. But when I told her that I was a set-free man, she tipped her head and looked at me over top of her spectacles, almost as if to say out loud that I was a liar. I don’t know how she knew it, but I could tell that she knew. But instead of calling me out on it, she started to tell me about herself.
She was married for a long time to a man called Wilbur, but he died almost a year before from something called the pox.
“Tain’t been an easy road, son, but this homestead’s been paid for in bitter coin. If it wasn’t the Injuns, cold weather, or poor crops, there was always some kinda illness tryin’ to git us to move on. My man Wilbur was a fine man, Rastus, an’ I think he’d a liked you. Did I tell you Wilbur was a horse man jest like you? He’d go on an’ on about it, always talkin’ about raisin’ them dang horses and makin’ it big by sellin’ ’em to the rich folks in the Bay Colony. A course he never got around to it other than all the talkin’, but a man has to have his dream now, don’t he, Rastus?”
She stopped talking and looked at me as if waiting for me to speak.
“So tell me, young feller, what’s yer dream about?”
I didn’t know what to say. I wasn’t sure I even had a dream apart from being free, which I already lied and told her I was.
“I don’t reckon I have a dream Miss Owens. Leastwise, nothin’ I kin think of. An’ tha’s okay ’cause I don’t aspect a whole lot outta life other’n what I already got.”
She looked at me kinda serious like and told me that that was just crazy talk. Then she leaned her chair toward me and pointed that corncob pipe my way and shook it at me.
“Now you listen to me, Rastus, ’cause I’m an old woman an’ I know what I’m talkin’ about. If a body don’t want much outta this life, then by golly that’s usually all they’s ever gonna git! Not much! Now you got to reach down deep inside yerself an’ think on what makes ya happy. An’ what it is that makes ya happy that you ain’t got yet, well, that kin be yer dream. Can ya see what I’m sayin’, boy? A body hasta have dreams. It’s what keeps us goin’.”
She put the pipe between her lips again as I lowered my head and thought about what she said for a bit before saying anything. Her words made a lot of sense, and I thought about it hard for a few minutes more before a smile came onto my face.
“Well then, I has a dream, Miss Owens. I think I wants ta go home. Yes, that’s what I wants. I wants ta go back home to Africa someday.”
She pulled the pipe from her mouth and smiled at me.
“Now that’s a good dream to have, Rastus, a real good dream, an’ I hope ya git it one day. An’ soon too.”
She stood up after some effort and asked me if I’d like some of that apple pie. “For it goes to spoil,” she added…”

Nick was willing to go to any lengths to be with his High School crush.
Some would say he had an unhealthy obsession with Jeanie, but he had dreamt about this for his whole adult life. He didn’t think it was unhealthy…He only wished it had come sooner.
Some would also say, you should be careful what you wish for.

Ah, the unfortunate Bartley Hannigan. Teacher burnout is just one of his problems. There’s also his disintegrating marriage, the inheritance of a haunted property with its uninvited bibulous guest, a psycho poet with a fatal attraction, the arrival of an Irish banshee hunter with poor personal hygiene, his sudden passion for a stripper, and eventually, the hit man on his trail. But as the gypsy said, this “shit-storm” will lead to either a higher plane of understanding—or sudden death. Either way, Bartley can hear his train a comin’, and he’s ready to jump aboard and ride the winding rails to the last stop, because he’s done with the bullshit! Done!

In Swedish author Miller’s thriller series starter set in and around Stockholm, an aging private investigator and her young team take on a seemingly simple adultery case that proves to be complex, indeed. Nadja Franzén’s ordinarily staid husband, Mikael, has been acting strangely. He’s been staying out late at night, claiming to be working but coming home drunk, and his wife has concluded that he’s having an affair. She hires a private detective agency to investigate, and her case is assigned to investigator Gunvor Ström, a former surgeon in her mid-60s. As she pursues Mikael from bar to bar, it quickly becomes apparent that he’s involved in something altogether more sinister than garden-variety adultery. As a sexagenarian, though, Gunvor struggles to be inconspicuous at the Stockholm nightspots that Mikael frequents, so she recruits two young acquaintances to be her eyes and ears: Elin, a rather plain teenager with low self-esteem, and David, an immature dropout. The trio soon forges a plan to uncover the truth. After some bodyguards viciously attack Mikael, though, Nadja reconsiders the investigation—and things take a very dark turn when a brutal murder is broadcast live to paying customers.

In 1950, the classic American downtown of Norristown, Pennsylvania, centered on the six blocks of Main Street, was the bustling commercial heart of central Montgomery County, and had been for over a century. With depression and war in the past, downtown merchants looked forward to an extended period of prosperity. It was not to be.
By 1975, downtown’s core stood largely shuttered and deteriorating, with 99 storefronts vacant and countless others lost to the wrecking ball, as first shoppers and then the merchants fled Main Street.
What Killed Downtown? Was it…
- The Malls? Commercial wisdom points to the King of Prussia Mall as the prime suspect. But were there accomplices?
- Municipal Government? The Main Street merchants always believed that the Borough Council was the culprit–and with good reason.
- The Downtown Merchants themselves? Did the shopholders blind themselves, then step into the firing line, ignoring the threats of a changing world?
- Or was it something else…something more fundamental?
Historian Michael E. Tolle’s extensive research into the collapse of downtown Norristown reveals not only the answers to these questions, but also recreates the classic American downtown shopping experience, long an American characteristic, but now largely foreign to anyone below middle age. In so doing, Tolle lays bare the fundamental incompatibility between the urban grid and the automobile, as he recounts how a middle-sized American city struggled — and failed — to solve the the issues of traffic flow and parking, issues that are no closer to solution today, regardless of the size of the city.

First came the time-storm, which erased half the population. Then came the Dinosaur Apocalypse …
How did it all begin? That depends on where you were and who you ask. In some places it started with the weather—which quickly became unstable and began behaving in impossible ways. In still others it started with the lights in the sky, which shifted and pulsed and could not be explained. Elsewhere it started with the disappearances: one here, a few there, but increasing in occurrence until fully three quarters of the population had vanished. Either way, there is one thing on which everyone agrees—it didn’t take long for the prehistoric flora and fauna to start showing up (often appearing right where someone was standing, in which case the two were fused, spliced, amalgamated). It didn’t take long for the great Time-displacement called the Flashback—which was brief but had aftershocks, like an earthquake—to change the face of the earth. Nor for the stories, some long and others short, some from before the maelstrom (and resulting societal collapse) and others after, to be recorded.
Collected herein are the stories in which Love mattered.
From Love in the Age of Reptiles:
There were six of them, as I said—all of whom rushed us the instant our feet touched the ground. All of whom snarled and charged us like wolverines as we raised our weapons and fired—the flare gun cracking and hissing, blanching the scarlet haze (for the sun had painted everything red and gold), its projectile punching through one of the raptors’ chests and lighting it up so that its ribs were backlit briefly and I could see, if only for an instant, its burning, beating heart.
Yet still they came, another one leaping at me even as I dropped the gun—which clattered against the planks—as I dropped it and grabbed the thing by its neck—then brought the knife down with my other hand and stabbed it between the eyes.
“Run!” I shouted, even as Amanda shot another—her second—and then bolted toward the shore, drawing the others so that I was able to snatch up the flare gun and quickly reload it; so that I was able to pursue them and to shoot one in the back—while Amanda turned and took out the last of them (shooting it in the head so that the back of its skull exploded like a spaghetti dinner thrown against the wall; so that it collapsed, writhing, about 10 feet in front of her—whereupon she quickly approached it and shot it again, just to be sure).
And then she looked at me (as the dead and dying animals lay all around us) and I looked back: our chests heaving; our faces covered in sweat, our worn clothes bloody and disheveled, and I knew that she knew—which was that today we were the predators, the thing needing to be feared—the killers. And that neither of us needed to worry; not about food or other predators or mysterious lights in the sky or anything. Because we were the masters of our fate, we and no one else, not even God. And we were the master of the world’s fate, too.
At which she ran to me and we collided and I held her fast, there on the long jetty in the Atlantic Ocean (in the Bermuda Triangle), there beneath a day moon and the blood-red sky, in an instant in which it was good, so very good, not to be afraid, not to be alone. And as to what may or may not have happened in those breaths, those pulse points between that moment and the next—the next day, the next search, the next milestone; as to that, I offer only a quote from Gandhi: “Speak only if it improves upon the silence.”

After Koritt’s transport crashes in the desert of Afghanistan, 10th Mountain Division Lieutenant Ty Lavender commandeers the ship, along with the U-10— the most ingenious technology in the galaxy focused into a weapon with multiple capabilities—and uses it to protect his team from local insurgents, who want retribution.

Thinking a breeding pair will be even more valuable to his home planet, despite the animosity between them, Koritt captures both Lavender and Frost, along with the U-10, and waits for help.

The first scout ships of the Chrysallaman Empire made contact in 1947. Their mission was simple: find a suitable planet for colonization. Earth—HG-281—was the perfect target. Rich with land, minerals, and water, the blue planet could boast only of a primitive race of defenders known as Humans, bugs who could be easily squashed by the might of a single Chrysallaman’s mind. When one of the scout ships is unexpectedly brought down, the advance party is forced to return to their home planet 30 light-years away to report and regroup. In their wake, they left behind a broken ship, dead crew members, and a young alien boy who would grow to become one of Earth’s greatest assets—and her greatest ally.
The lizard-like aliens would be back, and in force. Mankind must prepare a strategy capable of defending against not only superior technology, but superior psychic ability and strength. It will take an elite group of military personnel, brilliant scientists, a sombrero-wearing alien, and another generation to plant the seeds that will grow into a World Wide Defense, the likes of which the Chrysallamans have never known.

I lived in Seville, Ohio in a haunted house for 9 years. I could hear voices talking when I was the only one in the house. Things would move, get replaced, doors open on their own. One night I got home and walked in my kitchen to see all my cabinet doors wide open. and drawers pulled out. The TV would come on by itself, and I had candles in my bedroom that were lit on their own. At this point I needed answers, so I bought a digital recorder, and had learned about EVP from watching paranormal ghost hunting shows. I was ready to try, after a few try’s I would catch a voice that was intelligent and would answer my questions back. “Whats your name? When did you die? How many spirits are in this house? The spirit answered very clearly , “My name is Jimmy, and there are 5 spirits in this house.” They were friendly, and informed me of a natural energy field in my back yard. This would draw spirits from all over to come juice up in my yard. I wanted to know more so I took my recorder out in my yard and started asking questions, it was then I would get more answers, this was a whole new world. I wanted to find out what really happens when we die and what the other side was about. So I asked, there were so many spirits to talk to , I would ask them to come into my house. It was then I got the idea for a book, it would be called “A Guest in My House”. Because I had asked them as a guest in my house. So this is a little of my story about how my book “A Guest in My House” was written, all from true experiences of mine and the house that I lived in.
