In 2093, small-town North Wales, Destry Warwick discovers that being different finally has its advantages. As the techno-bubble world ends, she is yanked off the sofa and propelled across the country, on a quest to Megacity London against diabolical adversity to discover why and to save the world.
In a future where everyone is permanently connected to the Importal™ network by devices embedded in their heads, Destry, a young, movie-watching layabout and her best (and only) friend Weasel, an aged, paranoid Rastafarian, are dragged out of their mundane schedule of debauchery by the end of all things. Being un-Importaled™ they are the only ones in Spamlington that survive the breakdown unscathed. They are accompanied by Derek, her father’s solicitor when Weasel saves him by rebooting his brain, which is not entirely successful. They take off in Destry’s deceased father’s taxi cab, following his enigmatic instructions and using items that he left for them in his will. Over-protected by her father, Destry is thrust into an ecologically damaged, technologically twisted world she never knew existed.
